The contemporary approach that most stood out to me was poststructuralism and postmodernism. It fits in weirdly perfectly with what I would like to do, seeing as Poststructuralism grows out of language, and Postmodernism grows out of communications. Seeing as my majors are English and Communications, these two structures will definitely be most resourceful to me in my quest to eventually write in television. I especially appreciate how "Poststructuralism focuses on 'holes in systems'," because it's always fun to be able to look at a normal system and be able to break it down and deconstruct it. I have always strived to go my on path when I can, and would not want to ever feel like a puzzle piece fitting in perfectly to the puzzle of the world around me. That in mind, postmodernism continues to follow that aspect of my personality, as it "involves something relatable yet distinct". I would very likely be more interested in Postmodern works, seeing as it centers more on multimedia and less on literature. In addition to a writer, I am also a videographer, director, and editor of all sort of multimedia. At my core, I am a procurer of art, as pretentious as that sounds, and I strive to put a little bit of "me" in everything I create. Sometimes, said-things I create are writing, and sometimes it's video, so I can pull from both Poststructuralism AND Postmodernism in my journey to becoming more of a master of the English language.
